APB

Years ago I played a bit of APB: Reloaded with a few friends. Mostly Sam, who many will remember from my frequent streams ages ago, and more recently the Four Swords Adventures videos. I actually rather liked the game and had a ball running around and attempting to advance and buying stuff for my character. Or at least for a while. The matchmaking was awful, so I'd frequently be put up against players far better than myself, and every other person was aimbotting, so it became impossible to advance or even really play the game. Every now and then you'd get paired up against a few actual humans and those were always fun. I remember one time, after having gotten the most powerful sniper rifle in the game, Sam was trying to keep a briefcase away from two opponents, who chased him onto a roof. I was a roof over and could barely see them. As I was trying to even get close enough to participate, Sam killed one of them. He ran away from the other, moving just far enough away from me that the render distance no longer even showed him. The other killed Sam, causing him to drop the briefcase. Watching through his dead character's eyes, Sam saw her run over to grab the briefcase, moving far enough away that she as well disappeared to me due to render distance. Just as she was grabbing it, I took a completely blind shot, unable to see her, Sam screaming at me, and took her out. Good times.

So this here is an artist's rendering of my character in APB. Or at least, inspired by her, as I not only don't remember exactly what she looked like, but wanted to have some fun with it. This is also my first uploaded "constructed" drawing. As opposed to drawing her from scratch, if I don't care as much about the end result, it's often faster to "construct" the drawing from pieces of other drawings and then modify them to fit a new character. Her body is mostly Lucienna's, while her arms are Raina's. I think the face is mostly Ysami's as well as the shoes. The outfit, hair, and gun were all made from scratch. The whole thing was fairly hastily done, so it lacks a lot of small details and refinement. She's about 5'6" in 1" heels, so 5'5" flat. Her gun is about 7'2".

I did way more research into guns than was probably necessary in making this design. You'll notice there are two triggers and two scopes. The rear trigger is the "real" trigger, and is the one made for proper sniping. The front trigger and scope are actually designed for holding the gun over the shoulder like a bazooka. The front scope is identical to the rear. The front trigger is tied to the rear in a way that prioritizes the rear. So if anything happens to jam or lock the front trigger, the rear will still function without issue. To assist with aiming, there is a bipod just in front of the second trigger for stabilizing, and a rather large sound suppressor (as opposed to a brake). This suppressor can't prevent the boom from the bullets breaking the sound barrier, but quiets the actual rifle which will make finding the location of the rifle much more difficult. It does little to diminish recoil, though. The gun itself fires a 25x137mm round, a round typically reserved for ship or aircraft-mounted cannons and auto-cannons. Typically it's so powerful that it's considered wasteful to be used on personnel, instead being reserved for aircraft, fortifications, and even some tanks. The rifle has a muzzle velocity in excess of 3400 ft/s, an effective range in excess of 1.75 miles, and weighs 132 lbs.

When things get sketchy, the lady here can fling it over her shoulder without much effort and fire it like a semi-automatic rocket launcher.
